…so this is a bittersweet moment.  I have finally made a decision but I have to say that each of these families is deserving of this gift in more ways than I can count.  Each of the families nominated have been through my worst nightmare in one way or the other.  My heart goes out to all of them and certainly prayers of health and happiness.  I also want to thank everyone who sent in nominations.  I truely appreciate the time you set aside in order to reach out to someone in need.  Keep doing it.  This is the stuff that makes the world go round!  So without further ado, here is the email I recieved about the Howell Family.

Greetings,

I would like to nominate my cousin Matt Howell. Matt, age 31, was diagnosed with Malignant Astrocytic Neoplasm (inoperable brain cancer) in June at Barnes Jewish Hospital. Just prior to this diagnosis, his wife of two years, Amy, found out they were pregnant with their first child after many fertility procedures. Triumph to tragedy within a few short days. Even after a round of chemo and radiation, Matt has since lost his vision due to the tumor and is periodically in and out of the hospital with various complications (seizures, pneumonia, blood clots, fever). He is currently living with his parents for around-the-clock care, and his wife has just applied for Medicaid due to the enormous medical bills. Their daughter, Mattie Marie, is scheduled to be induced on Dec. 18. What a gift it would be to capture those amazing moments together during her first few weeks of life. Photos may be the only memories Mattie will have of her daddy. We believe in a God who still performs miracles today, just as He did 2000 years ago. Please consider this nomination for two reasons: one for the miracle that is Mattie, and two, the hope for a miracle to come for her daddy, Matt.

Thank you and many blessings to you and yours this Christmas season,

Christy Starling

…so I have gotten some really great nominations so far…some I can’t stop thinking about…so gutt wrenching I just want to go and hug my babies and never let them out of my sight.  A real reminder that life is never what you expect and makes me oh so thankful for what I have right now.

I will take nominations through Wednesday and then make my announcement on Friday!   So stay tuned…

I have completed all of the editing of my sessions for the month so I have finally gotten to go back and edit some of my personal photos from this fall…and of course we can’t have a post without photos so….

It’s really important to me as a mother that my children understand the meaning behind Christmas.  About how a baby was born that grew up to be the kindest most compassionate human being there ever was…that he gave all that he had to anyone who needed it.  Regardless of their station in life or the mistakes that they had made.  His compassion for people is the root of my own compassion…and I want that to be passed on to my children more than anything else.  So in the spirit of Christ and his giving ways, I want to do something special this Christmas but I will need your help.  I want to give a family in need, the gift of everlasting memories.  I want you to send an email to me at mlh40804@yahoo.com and nominate a family or person and tell me their story.  Why it would make their Christmas a little bit more special if they recieved a portrait session and a $500 print credit from me.  It may not be a million dollars but I can guarantee those pictures will be priceless to them…

I also have a couple images to share…little Isabel was such a good sport today…happy and carefree in the 28 degree weather…for about 25 minutes anyway…longer than I would have lasted!

Is she not the cutest little girl ever…

I love this image.
